RECYCLE FOR BEER

At wristband exchange on your arrival you’ll be given a green bag for bottles, a clear one for cans and a black one for all other waste. More bags can be picked up from the Info Tent, zone managers’ caravans, Campsite CAT teams and campground litter exchange points.

In the campgrounds if you do your playground duty and bring us filled up bags of recycling, you won’t just be earning brownie points; you’ll be earning a beer for your hard earned work if you take the bag to one of the litter exchange points from 7am – 7pm each day.

RECYCLE FOR MONEY

In the arena and campsite bar every beer cup is worth 10p. Collect them, bring them back and you’ll be refunded 10p a cup. You’ll notice a small increase in the price of beer this year. But don’t worry, you can get it back. There’s no limit on the number of cups brought back, but stack them up rather than in a big bag so it’s quick to count. There’s 6 tonnes of paper cups used at the festival and we want to recycle every bit we can.

It’s that simple.

Cows Live Here Too!

Remember that after you go home the festival site is home to cows and various other wildlife.  Please don’t leave broken glass. Please remember to bin your cigarette butts, they don’t taste that nice, the cows won’t like them.

GIVE ME SHELTER

Don't Dump it, Don't Destroy it; Hand It In!

Every year, thousands of tents, sleeping bags and camping mats are left behind after festivals, along with things like wellies, radios, and clothes.
Together with Festival Republic, Global Hand and other local charitable groups we are running the Give Me Shelter campaign to encourage festival-goers to give away their tents and other items that would otherwise left behind or trashed and end up in landfill. These will be redirected to meet needs internationally.

Give Me Shelter asks you to donate your tents and other camping gear if you have no further need for them.

Step 1 - Decide to donate – don’t trash your tent or camping gear
Step 2 - Pack it Up
Step 3 - Take it to a zone manager caravan
Step 4 - Feel Good and do good

More information on Global Hand and Give Me Shelter here

IMPORTANT: NEWS ABOUT YOUR TENT!We need you to take down your tents and hand them in. It is simply impossible for us to take down so many tents. We will, however, check all tents handed in. If they are good quality, they will be distributed to people in need, locally and in many places on the planet.

Tents left standing will go to landfill and damage our environment:
So, don’t leave your tent. Pack it. Hand it in. Change lives!

ENVIRONMENTALLY SOUND SHOWERS & TOILETS

Environmentally Sound Shower Gel
To help minimize the environmental impact on the land at where the festival is held, Ecover Shower Gel is available for all festival goers to use in the onsite showers. Ecover Shower Gel is made from plant and mineral based ingredients and is biodegradable, leaving no harmful residues on the land or in the water after use. Please use the Shower Gel provided if you have not brought your own ecological version.

Eco Friendly Toilet Paper
Toilet paper available on site, you will be happy to know, comes from recycled paper. It has had a previous life before becoming toilet paper, so no trees were cut down just to get flushed.

HANDY TIPS FOR GREEN CAMPERS

The following are tips for you:

• Say no to plastic bags if offered by market vendors. Bring your own re-useable cloth bag.
• Minimize the amount of over-packaged goods and individual portion packs you bring to the festival.
• Buy fair-trade and organic food, drinks and products at stalls if possible.
• Don't drop your litter. Use the litter points and bins all over the site!
• Please please please don’t drop your cigarette butts. Every butt you throw on the ground has to be picked up by someone else. Use an empty film canister to collect your butts.
• Litter pickers are lovely…smile at them and please help them out by not throwing rubbish on the ground!
• Separate your waste at your campsite and use the bags we supply to bring your recycling and compostables to the appropriate bins.
• Use public transport and our shuttle bus service if possible, or look for a lift through Lift Share.
• If you must use your car, then please consider a Lift Share scheme. Making sure your tyres are properly inflated will mean that your car will run more efficiently and will reduce your carbon emissions. If you are in a queue to enter the site, please turn off your engine rather than idling the car.
• Use only phosphate free shampoo and soap in the showers and remember to take a short shower!
• Turn off taps & showers when finished.
• Live by the 'LEAVE NO TRACE' philosophy – take only photos, leave only footprints.
